Use and Storage of Personal Information
When you provide us with your personal information, we have a legal obligation towards you in the manner that we deal with the data. We must collect the information fairly and explain how we use it. Any information you provide Per Capita will only be used by us and will not be supplied outside the organisation without your explicit permission.
Per Capita may require, from time to time, personal information about yourself (e.g. name and email address) in order for you to receive and/or use services on our website– this may include email bulletins or SMS updates. By entering your details, you enable Per Capita and its service providers to provide you with the services that you select, which are designed to provide you information that you want to receive.
This site runs Google Analytics and Quantcast, which use cookies to track visitors on the site. This presents non-personal statistical information (information about page visits, duration of page views and the path users take throughout the site). Per Capita uses the information to improve the service to its users. Per Capita is fully compliant with GDPR legislation (implemented in the United Kingdom from the 25th May 2018).
Of relevance to Per Capita is the special purposes exemption under ‘Part 5 Exemptions Etc’ Based on Article 85(2) For Reasons of freedom of Expression and Journalistic, academic, artistic and literary purposes’.
This states: “26(1) In this paragraph, “the special purposes” means one or more of the following— (a) the purposes of journalism; (b) academic purposes; (c) artistic purposes; (d) literary purposes. (2) Sub-paragraph (3) applies to the processing of personal data carried out for the special purposes if—(a) the processing is being carried out with a view to the publication by a person of journalistic, academic, artistic or literary material, and (b) the controller reasonably believes that the publication of the material would be in the public interest.”
